WELCOME TO GMRE, INC.

Since 2001 our company has offered a variety of traditional geological services, including mapping of bedrock and surficial sediments, petrographic analysis, and core logging. GMRE geologists also serve the aggregate industry by conducting detailed quarry mapping, economic evaluations, and by producing quality geologic maps that aid with planning future operations. GMRE, Inc. has expanded its range of services with new affiliates who specialize in the chemistry and mineralogy of concretes, the use of fly ash for environmental reclamation purposes, the design of passive treatment systems for ARD (AMD), and wetland delineations and related environmental expertise. Our newest service is providing online courses for continuing education credits (PDH’s).

Geologic Field Investigations
Quality geologic mapping is fundamental to many projects; for example, mineral exploration, quarry expansion, and roadway construction. Our geologists have considerable expertise mapping in a wide variety of sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic terrains. We also have worked extensively with glacial and other surficial deposits, including alluvial sand and gravel deposits near the eastern U.S. coastline. Our high quality geologic maps are crucial to construction and exploration programs. They convey the importance as well as the economic potential of a prospect to sponsors.

Continuing Education Courses
GMRE’s online courses provide Professional Development Hours (PDH’s) required for maintaining P.G. and P.E.
licenses. Professional geologists and engineers need an alternative to attending meetings that are often expensive
and require time consuming travel. GMRE online courses explore topics unique to online continuing education.
Our C.E. program begins with the fascinating story of pyrite and acid rock drainage at Skytop, Pennsylvania.

Pyrite Occurrences and ARD Remediation
GMRE’s geological and mineralogical studies have formed the foundation for acid rock drainage (ARD) remediation projects. Our complementary strengths in mineralogy, petrology, and structural geology allow us to interpret the nature and extent of sulfide mineralization. GMRE geologists played a key role in deciphering a serious pyrite and ARD problem at Skytop, central Pennsylvania. In conjunction with our detailed mapping and mineralogical investigations, we performed field and laboratory tests to develop a new remedial treatment for ARD. The patented “Acid-Cure Slurry” is a simple, cost-effective material that can be produced in any desirable quantity from common components.
